Cold worms eat less. The correct response is not to add more food because it remains visible. Reduce feeding and extend the interval between checks. The bedding itself provides material and microbial food while the system slows.

Protect bins from freezing air and saturated rain. Insulate sides and lids while preserving ventilation. Avoid repeatedly opening a cold bin and releasing the small amount of warmth it has retained.

Winter is useful for record review, bedding preparation, equipment cleaning and planning. A stable quiet wormery is a success even if it is not producing at summer speed.
