By the end of this lesson: you will harvest with less handling by moving the population.

Push mature material to one side and create a fresh bedding and feeding zone on the other. Over time, many worms move towards the food. Remove mature material in stages from the abandoned side.

This is slower than immediate sieving but causes less handling and is excellent for single bins. It works best when the mature side is no longer being fed.

Do not expect a perfect migration. Some worms remain in every suitable zone. The goal is reduction, not total obedience.
