By the end of this lesson: you will vary feeds and manage foods that bring specific risks.
Use variety across the month rather than trying to create a perfect plate every feed. Soft fruit, vegetable peelings, leafy scraps, small amounts of coffee grounds and non-plastic teabags can all play a part.
Watery fruit adds moisture. Bread, rice and starchy food can become dense or mouldy. Coffee grounds can compact. Citrus, onion and garlic can be acidic or slow when used heavily. None of this means a single small amount destroys a healthy bin; it means concentration and repetition create risk.
Keep meat, fish, dairy, oils, pet waste and heavily seasoned meals out of a normal household wormery. They add odour, pest and hygiene problems with little benefit.
