As temperatures rise, worm and microbial activity increases. The temptation is to return immediately to summer feeding levels. Instead, increase in steps and confirm that each feed is disappearing.

Spring is a good time to replace tired bedding, inspect drainage and prepare additional trays or bins. It is also a sensible time for population splits because the receiving systems have months of moderate conditions ahead.

Check for winter damage: compacted wet material, dead zones, exhausted bedding and pest populations. Correct these before increasing food.
