One question. years of learning.
A late-night Facebook post about a struggling
wormery sparked our curiosity.
We began testing bedding, moisture, airflow and feed in our own systems. That curiosity became Wormery.uk.

OUR STORY
How Wormery.uk Began
So, how did we get into worm farming?
Honestly, it started in a slightly unexpected way.
Our founder runs a web development business and has over 13 years of experience in online marketing. Before that, he spent around 16 years in the dreaded recruitment sector, so planning, problem-solving, testing ideas and delivering results have always been part of the job.
What we did not expect was for those skills to lead us into the world of worms, wormeries and vermicompost.
But here we are.
Why Worm Farming?
The honest answer is Facebook.
One evening, during a rare bit of late-night scrolling, we came across someone on an allotment with a wormery. She was trying to work out why it was not quite performing as expected.
That caught our attention.
We started watching more, reading more and learning how composting worms can turn food waste into something genuinely useful: vermicompost.
As plant lovers with a vegetable patch, that immediately made sense to us. Less food waste, healthier soil, better plants and less need to keep buying bag after bag of compost.
That sounded like a win
From Curiosity to Wormery.uk
Once we understood the basics, the next question was obvious:
Could worm farming be scaled?
The answer was yes.
Then came the next question:
Could there be a practical, down-to-earth business in worms, wormeries, vermicompost and education?
Again, yes.
In a world where so much work is becoming more digital, automated and AI-driven, we believe there is real value in practical, hands-on skills. Worm farming is simple in principle, but when you get into it properly, there is a lot to learn.
You need to understand bedding, moisture, airflow, temperature, food balance, worm health, harvesting and common problems.
So we started testing, learning, making mistakes, fixing problems and building real experience with our own wormery systems.
That journey became Wormery.uk.
Why We Created the Wormery UK Academy
We realised very quickly that many beginner wormery problems come from the same few issues:
too much food, not enough bedding, poor airflow, too much moisture, the wrong expectations and not enough simple guidance.
So we created the Wormery UK Academy to help people start properly.
Our aim is to make worm farming easier to understand, especially for beginners who want to turn food waste into useful vermicompost without smells, stress or confusion.
Whether you want a small wormery for your kitchen scraps, better compost for your plants, a healthier vegetable patch, or you are interested in scaling worm farming further, Wormery.uk is here to help you learn the process properly.
We are still learning, testing and improving too.
That is part of the fun.
The worms do the hard work.
